Do you have a passion for education and want to expand your online presence? You should consider writing education blogs. Some of the most popular and enduring blogs are related to the education industry, which generates trillions of dollars globally in ancillary services. Education is also a diverse field, with room to focus on specific niches and facets:

Primary education
Secondary higher education
Adult education
Vocational training
Tutoring
Private schooling
Homeschooling
Supplemental educational services

The online world of education experts is crowded, and thousands of websites sell educational resources. However, there is room for you to make an impact with blog content writing if you understand where your passion lies, what your niche is, and where to find your audience.

Establish Your Credibility

If you’re hoping to develop an educational blog, you already have a background that will point you in the right direction. The great thing about education is that it is a field where everyone has some experience — at least as a student, if nothing else. Whether you were homeschooled or went to a public school, a private school, or a military academy, you were a student once. Therefore, you have a unique perspective to draw from, and the scope of your prospective audience is wide. Of course, from the standpoint of establishing credibility, it helps to say that you have worked as an educational professional. Readers understandably tend to value the information delivered by experienced people more than those who are inexperienced. How you market yourself and write your blogs for schools, organizations, or parents depends on the niche you want to fill. It also determines how you come across as an expert in the field to your readers. What do you do if your career isn’t in education, but you still hold a passion for the field? Popular blogs like Confessions of a Homeschooler and Itsy Bitsy Learners are run by mothers who are homeschool teachers but don’t have other teaching credentials. Instead, they have experience and a unique perspective in the area of homeschooling. This allows them to create engaging, ongoing content their audience relates to.

Provide Insights From Your Personal Experience

The tutoring industry in the United States alone is worth $7.69 billion. Families hire tutors privately, school districts contract with tutoring companies, and some tutors work independently. If you have experience hiring a tutor or tutoring children, there is plenty of material for you to write. Draw from your knowledge of what it takes to be an effective tutor, how to find good tutors, what you think about means-tested tutoring programs, or how to successfully tutor one’s own children. Likewise, private schools offer a broad culture and community that is a world unto itself. A person familiar with the ins and outs of the system can talk about the challenges facing parents who want to send their children to a private school. Perhaps you can research school curricula to help other families find the best fit for their kids. There is also value in posts that compare the academic standards of different schools and help families find scholarships to cover the cost of tuition. Are you interested in education administration or the world of education policy? Your blog content writing can offer valuable insights into the impact of recent reforms on different levels of education. Alternatively, if your experience is that of a parent who wants to help other families prepare their kids for the obstacles they’ll face, you will find a wide audience interested in your views. Regardless of where your experience or passion lies, you can only stand out from the crowd if you highlight your unique perspective and give readers a fresh take on the subjects at hand.

Market to Your Target Audience

Whatever topic you choose to write about, you have to find your niche. This should link with your personal experiences and passions. Once you’ve found it, you’ll want to begin creating content and marketing it, whether you write education blogs for colleges and universities or own a digital marketing agency (or anything in between). In addition to creating and publishing social media posts, try submitting material to other established blogs. You will improve your credibility and expand your audience by guest-posting on other sites.
